I want to go to europe this summer with a few of my friends, ( 2 males and 2 females). We are not the most experienced travellers and a few of us have not even left this country (Canada). What are some things that we should avoid or be weary of? We plan on going to England and France. ANy tips or advice will be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't get overly paranoid. Keep in mind, though, that Paris and London are large cities, and take the same precautions that you would take in large cities at home. I think the biggest thing to be aware of is pickpocketing. Keep your valuables safe in large public areas such as sights or on public transportation, and you will be fine. Many of these scam artists are not trying to hurt you, they would just like to take advantage without you even knowing, so keep valuables in a money belt or somewhere safe, and don't be flashy with cash or draw too much attention to yourselves.
Cheers, Ray

My boyfriend and I are traveling to Europe the end of may to the end of june. People here in the states don't seem to think its a good idea anymore because of current conditions? Does anyone have any advice? Would you still go?
Thanks!

I don't think there will be any problems. As long as you behave nicely, learn a few polite expressions in the local language, stay out of heated political debates and keep an open mind, people will be very friendly.
Most Americans who had problems in foreign countries (at least those I've seen) were either displaying incredible arrogance (for instance, complaining loudly about the way things were done, and saying how much better it is in the States), or clearly improper behavior (like young women getting topless in a bar).
