Customs

Hey all,

this one's for the ones who have just come back recently. Do they still have the whole honor system set up for customs at the airport where you go through red if you have stuff to declare and go through green if you don't or have they changed it over to everyone has to have an inspection? Any and all answers are appreciated! ;D

Well.....not really recently....returned from London in late January and the Caribbean in May......after 2 dozen trips overseas in the past 10 years or so can say that not one thing, as a US citizen, appears to have changed. Still have the 'declare/nothing to delare' lanes....have yet to ever have my stuff inspected. But have indeed have to have my boots 'checked' every single time! Maybe just lucky....being military tends to give you a bit of a pass...but can't say I saw anything that looked different the past few trips since 9/11.

I just got back from london a week ago and yep, it's still red and green lines...... i was there a year ago, and it was still the same last week......they are doing more security checks tho when you go to check into your flight....it was kinda annoying having to stop and un pack your stuff and show them your luggage, but better safe then sorry......but as far as customs, nothing seems to have changed.....

Thanks guys! I'm leaving for Ireland tommorow and I figured I'd inquire about that beforehand. I'm pretty bloody nervous about everything. But hey, at least one more detail is cleared up. Thanks again!
