OK, so here's the situation.
2 of my co-workers are interested in going to Europe - one in November and one in January.
They don't want to be in the cold cold, so somewhere warmer is better.
Where would you tell them to go?
Kim
PS Barcelona is out as one has been there many times.

It was coolish and wet in England/Scotland when I was there in November. Beautiful blue skies and high's in low 70's midafternoon in Italy in January. Of course, it could be completely reversed this year the way the weather is going! ;D The odds say Italy or southern France.....ignoring spain as you said.

But what about the rest of Spain?

Yep, they are open to the rest of Spain - just one of them is interested in trying something new having been to Barcelona several times.

Don't know if this qualifies as warm, but Reykjavik, Iceland is surprisingly mild in the winter. The Gulf stream keep the city somewhat warm, warmer than New York in the winter. Not a sun and beach kind of vacation, but there are amazingly cheap fares to Iceland in the winter. Accommodation can be steep, but since they are trying to boost tourism in the winter, they have great package deals that include airfare and hotel. Here is a link in case you are interested: www.goiceland.orgKinda crazy, but just throwing this out there... Ray

I think it will be pretty dark in Iceland, though, in the winter? I wouldn't mind going, but I think I might miss the sun.

Very true, daylight hours are very short. But if the sky is clear you may be able to see the Northern Lights. (That's always been a dream of mine!)

italy was warm when I went there this past winter. Florence and Rome to be mor precise. As for Spain, San Sebastian was warmer too, and that is north Spain. Then there is Madrid, Sevilla, cadiz, Alicante, Malaga and hte whole southg of France
Personally I would do Spain ;D

all of portugal's algarve, and Spain's andeluthia (sp?) should be nice. but warn them not to drive into the British colony, Gibralter! the spanish border agents have been carrying out harrasment via a s-l-o-w i-n-s-p-e-c-t-i-o-n on all cars exiting the colony. it's better to park in spain and ride the bus into gibralter.
there's also to ferrry from spain over to North Africa. We did the Tangier thing one day. so, i would suggest Cueta! [this is if they want to see someplace outside Europe, as well]
