I have yet to tell my friends about me going to Europe in ten months I am sure that they are going to be upset that I'm leaving. So I just wasn't going to tell them untell I have everything a bit more organized. The only thing is that my family has kinda slipped up and told a few people so I'm sure my friends are going to find out soon. What should I do??? I rather that they hear it from me that I'm planning on leaving for a year but I just don't know how to tell them. Weird question I'm sure but if anyone has been in this situation that would toally help for the tips.

Would you RELAX.....Why are you so worried about telling your friends??? You might as well tell ALLof them now that the news is out to a few people. It's easier to tell everyone than to try to remember who you are keeping this secret from and who you have told. Shouldn't your friends be happy for you?? This is a chance of a life-time!! ;D You might be surprised - you may have a few interested friends that might want to join you. Happy trails....and don't let any of your friends talk you out of your adventures!!! :D

You should just tell them. And really, while they might miss you, they will probably just be really excited for you! It's a pretty cool thing.
Just think - if your friend got a really great opportunity, would you be upset at them? No, you'd be happy for them, maybe a little sad for you cause you would miss them, but more happy for them!

Are you afraid they will try hard to talk you out of your plans? I can see why you would want to avoid telling them if so. But as you said, it's probably too late already, so rather than hear it from someone else, it's probably best you tell them.
I would probably find it more of a worry than a help if a friend decided she wanted to come along with also, but if you are going for a full year, I doubt anyone will decide to follow.
I'm not sure if you are worried about them being jealous. If so, best of luck dealing with that too.
