Just wondering how much a meal usually costs in these places. Trying to make up a fairly accurate idea of how much things will cost per city as I'm trying to get my friend to come Bruges Amsterdam Berlin Munich Salzburg Vienna Budapest Prague Not looking for anything fancy, but wouldn't mind hearing prices for a 3-course meal. More looking for prices on grabbing a "Chicken + Fries + Beer" type of meal. Clarify which currency you use Thanks

Hi! Well, here's what I remember!
Amsterdam, you can get around cheaply, right by the Palace there is an italian restaurant, for a great 3 course meal, it was about 8 euros, which is not bad. Stay away from fast food, they seem cheaper, but they aren't. Look around for little places, little unknown treasures!
Berlin, you can really eat cheap. A kebap is about 2,50euros depends on where you go, but it fills the heck out of you!
Munich, same price as average, you can get around for 5 euros if you find a good spot!
Vienna a little more expensive IMHO!
Prague, cheap kingdom! Great food! Throughout every city, I'd go for grocery shopping all the way!!! In prague, beside the tower near namesty republiky go to Bella Donna, it's a great place in the side street, for 40czk I ate a whole medium pizza and a drink! Unbelievable, that's 2$ canadian! xoxo Jen

Thanks a ton. I was going to budget 15 a day CDN for food on average. I thought it was enough from what I'd read, but then when I went to Fodors.com I checked restaurants and they had the cheapest place in Brussels @ like 34 Euros or something. Kinda scared me lol. Guess they just did a certain type of places. But yeh, you say basically for a filling meal that isn't over elaborate 7-10 Euros would be good on average with a few more expensive meals averaged by cheap places like Prague? Also yeh, groceries are a plan for sure Just wonderin what the prices were anyway cause I want to have atleast 1 meal per city. Thanks again. Any feedback on the other places is great.

Sit-down restaurants in northern Europe are usually fairly expensive by Canadian standards. If you go to an Arab or Turkish place where you order at the counter, you will get a lot cheaper price than you've located so far. I suspect Brussels is cheaper than Copenhagen, and I was always able to get a filling dinner for $15 Canadian and often $10 in Copenhagen last summer.
Breakfast was included with our hotel, and we skipped lunch.

Sounds good Yup my plan was to get hostels with breakfast. If they didn't have it I would make my own. That way, at the most, I'd buy one meal a day as I will eat breakfast around 10-12 and that should tide me til 5-7 for supper.
