Help from travellers please! Hello people, I have always loved travelling and therefore decided to build a website to give myself and fellow travellers a place to document and illustrate their travels in their own online diary/journal/website/blog. The site is nearing completion and I need your help. I need travellers like yourself to take out an account and start using the site (free of charge of course for a limited time) I really need your feedback. I have several travellers already using the site and their feedback has been positive, I want to hear yours. The site is titled eTravelDiary and can be found at www.eTravelDiary.com or eTravelDiary.brinkster.net Looking forward to your feedback. Many thanks. Belinda _________________ Tell me where to go!

Hi Belinda,
I will leave this post until you start charging as we don't allow businesses to post ads on these boards. It's fine as long as it's a free resource for travellers.

Whilst it's a good idea, I personally wouldn't use it. There's other sites out there that do a similar thing for free, also I have my own domain that I like to use for stuff like that, picture hosting etc.

I'm pretty much with the others. also I have to add that brinkster kind of sucks as a host, and to be charging for 30 megs of space as a platinum package is kind of out there....the design of the site could use some work too, doesn't look very professional if you're planning on using this as a business.
anyone with cgi access and webspace can make a journal updatable from the road.

Initially I was trying to be tactful, but I completely agree with Doug. The site's design is poor- it looks like it was done by a 15 year old in frontpage. The animations wind me up (they make it look as though the site is slow to load, whilst it isn't). Also I'd scrap the news thing- if people want news then they go to news websites. Sorry to be so critical, but this is quite a highly contested market. Design is important (as is reliable hosting) and I'd look at the competition before making your next move (e.g. www.travelpackers.com - that looks far more professional in my eyes).

Belinda, I don't have any trips planned at the moment, but not sure if I would use something like that or not? Some of the people that I want to keep in touch with don't have access to the Internet, or don't like using it (I know that's probably hard to believe these days).
At this point I tend to prefer using E-mail and diarizing my trip using a PDA, which I can use whenever or wherever I happen to be. That tends to be a bit more practical, as I don't always have to search out Internet Cafes and can work when it's convenient and doesn't interfere with my travel activities.
It seems like a good idea, but I would be reluctant to sign up if there was a cost for this. I wasn't aware of TravelPackers until reading these Posts, but would be more inclined to subscribe to a site that didn't involve any charges.
I would suggest that you continue refining your site, as there may be a market for this. Good Luck!!!

I've used travelpackers and know many people who pay also to have a private journal and it's really well made. The service is excellent!
