Ahh so my friends are getting in the gist of my planned travels and i'm getting the pressies.
TO add to my parents getting my backpack for christmas(along with a new jumper and jeans mum bought months ago and put on layby for christmas with the intentions of them being 'new' when I go away), I received as my 'Secret Santa' present yesterday a travel diary and pen.
Today, being Christmas Eve my flatmate has gone to his family, however I came home to find an envelope with my name on it on the Christmas tree. With a logo on it of the store from where I want to get some socks and other travel related items.
ANd today one of the girls at work let it slip that my best mate has gotten me something from same store, or a gift voucher as well.
YAY!
(and that store has extended its sale period past Christmas so I'm very happy!)

We always open our presents on Christmas Eve. There is just my Mom and me so we eat a pile of Chinese food and then exchange gifts. There was a bag full of travel goodies. ;D I got a beautiful engraved Swiss Army knife, a new money belt, luggage tags, a neat leather neck pouch for money that's small enough to double as a wallet and a combination luggage lock! I also got a gift certificate for a shoe store so I can pick out a pair of nice shoes.

You both got spoiled, lucky girls! My husband has locked himself in the bedroom and is frantically wrapping gifts, it's quite the frenzy from the sounds of it!! Kim

Not really a frenzy...it's more like men have a natural problem with gift wrapping ANYTHING...my mother even went as far as to unwrap my stuff an re-wrap it this year!

ahhhhhhhh! My sister in law gave me a wonderful fleece jumper for my trip. She is stressing I won't be warm enough (she is such a worrier, she is also stressing that I am 31 and focussing on travelling as opposed to finding me a husband). And god love her, she has matched it to my ski jacket, and my other jacket, and my beanie.....she got it in PINK!
(its very significant receiving this kind of gift at Christmas time...tis not exactly cold enough in Australia to be recieving jumpers as Christmas presents!)
So I've done well- 2 gift vouchers to go get my thermals, and some other bits and pieces a backpack travel diary and a new jumper.
I think Doug is right, its a male thing. My flatmate sat and watched me wrap my gifts the other night and had to keep asking "is this right?" each time he went to fold the paper as he wrapped! One of my kids, her dad got me a pressie (mum is on night shift thus left buying the teacher presents to him) so got me beer and stuck a bow on it. heh!

It's not a man/woman thing at all Doug! I like to think I am a darn good wrapper (my mommy taught me years ago, it's all about those square corners) ...and several years ago my son sat down with me and watched/asked/practiced how I did it. He is now hands down the 'king' of wrapping in his extended family and is great at it. My daughter was always too busy (smile) and still to this day can't wrap a thing if her life depended on it! Ask your Mom....and learn...it's not hard if you are willing to take a few minutes to learn.
