Today my boss was telling me about his trip to Amsterdam and he was giving me a lot of heads up. He was telling me that sometimes moneybelts arent always the safest bets because thievs know that tourists wear money belts so thats where they go for. Sometimes they cut them off with knives and take off, and sometimes pickpockets reach under your shirt and just take it.
Is there anyway I can assure myself that my valubles are safe in a money belt?

The pouches that have thin cloth straps and you wear around your neck can be bad for that, because the quick-working pickpocket will just cut the straps.
If you're in a mugging situation, I'm not sure there is much that can help, whether you have a money belt under your clothes, in your shoe, or whatever.
But stealth pickpocketing is *way* more common than mugging, so I'd prefer to be as protected against stealth pickpocking even if I can't be fully protected against mugging.
Did your boss get mugged in Amsterdam? I know someone who had his backpack stolen at Amsterdam Central Station, although I haven't asked for details. So it's definitely a place to keep cautious about.
Take a look at the leg pouches. Those are probably the least conspicuous.

Even the most brazen of robbers will seldom go into your pants to retrieve your money belt. Why bother? There are easier targets. I.e.: * People who wear the neck things instead * Dumb dumbs who use money belts but foolishly wear them ON TOP of their clothing!!!
