any suggestions on bars/clubs i can go on my own at night? it's great alone during the day, but i want to go somewhere i can dance and have fun...by myself, albeit, but it's not impossible here, is it?
please make suggestions for a lone traveler i love to dance to rock/80s/house/top 40...and i don't drink much so that's not important..something with cheap entrance and interesting people

Where in London are you staying? Centre?
Generally, cheap clubs are ****. However, I'd look at Hombres (aka Hombre de bahia) by Oxford Circus. Sure, it's a bit moody, but it's cheap (entry is about £5 or so), central and fairly safe. Above all, it plays 80s, house and commercial pop.
In terms of bars, I'm not so sure. I'm a big fan of Wetherspoons, simply because it's cheap - it's not the kind of place you go to on your own though. Then again, you could always find a party hostel (this is what I normally do) and organise a big piss up or something.

i'm staying near morden station... which hostels have the most partying fun? and how does one go about organizing a 'piss up'? do clubs stay open past 11 here? i know the pubs close at that time--and clubs, too?

Why are you staying in Morden??(!) It's literally miles out, Zone 4 South London. Avoid it if you can, as the area isn't the best, also it's the best part of an hour from Central London.
If you're based in Morden then the nightlife will virtually be nonexistent. It's simply too far out to make going into town worthwhile.
With regards to UK licencing laws, most clubs are open until 2am (this is accepted as a general minimum for clubs). However, more and more are getting later licences. Bars close at 11 pm. Licencing laws are getting a huge shakeup this year though, so this will change.
As for organising a piss up, just meet some people in your hostel.

Also the tube stops running somewhere around midnight, so that would make transport to/from nightlife difficult. Definitely improve your location if you can.

Yeah, around 12:30. They are trying to extend it by 1hr over the weekend though, at the expense of early morning Saturday/Sunday services.
There are night buses, although I wouldn't recommend them unless you really know what you are doing. Personally, I wouldn't take a night bus on a route that I didn't know - it just isn't worth the risk.
