How do you get tickets or permission to go to the excavations under the Vatican?

Follow the instructions here. tinyurl.com/2yb63It can often take a long time to get responses to emails, so try to be patient. The sooner you apply, the more likely you are to get in, as space is severely limited. I did this tour, and liked it very much.

They are impossible!!! I never received a reply from them and when I went to Rome they of course said they never had a record of my request. I faxed and called and e-mailed Good Luck-- I am a Hooff, too.

I asked about this same tour; the SCAVI tour, and the information WT is giving you is dead on accurate. I emailed them from this site about 2 months ago and just received an email yesterday with the time and date that we are to take the tour.
go to the site, send them the information that they ask for (including days that you'll be in rome), then you just simply have to be patient and wait for them to reply. They let in few people per day and need enough requests for the same dates and language in order to organize everything.
Anyways.... good luck!
best regards. Kristian

How far in advance should you email them? I am planning to be in Rome in early September and would LOVE to do this. Thanks!
