im am from the uk and just wondered if you want to do some work while you travel (for some extra cash) do you need to do it illegally(cash in hand) or can uk residents work over any european country without a permit.
how easy is it to find work whilst travelling

Do you have a UK passport (different to UK residency)? If so, you can live/work anywhere in the EU without a visa or a permit.
Finding suitable work is an entirely different thing though. Jobs can be relatively scarce, and it isn't a great way to fund your travels.

i hear that fruit picking and bar jobs arnt that hard to come across is this true

Fruit picking literally pays jack all. Bar jobs are better paid, although they aren't that commonplace, especially this far into the season.
When/where are you planning on going?
