Hello. I'm traveling to Amsterdam, Brussels, and London in late November for 2 weeks. My question is: I hear a lot of people recommending Travel Packs (without wheels); what do any of you think about those backpacks with wheels and handle? Has anyone used one? Thanks in advance.

isn't that called a suitcase? ;D i mean, a backpack is a pack that goes on your back. isn't that the way it works?
cobblestone streets would tear up a wheeled pack. the point of a backpack is to allow you to carry it whereever you go, while traveleling between sleeps. if a wheeled pack works for you, go for it. they seem popular with airline crews. i prefer the mobility of a backpack.
Look at topic: Travel Pack or Wheelie Travel Bag?

I know what you mean....looked into them myself before my last trip. And BTW, it IS a backpack in the normal vision of one, but you can extend a handle and wheels if needed. My 'objection' was the added weight those items contribute, plus, overall it is a smallish pack to start with. Going through airports and train stations I would have loved being able to put my pack down, but overall, on a day to day basis wheels would have served little purpose. My best advice, for what it's worth, is don't do it. Just get a normal backpack, minus the extra weight and with the room you will need. The times you can really use this adaptation are few enough to not make the price and the weight worth while.

I had a (small) backpack with wheels for my 5 week trip, and next time it's backpack all the way. Great at the airport, and it did trail after me like a little puppy, but what a pain up and down stairs (and there were a LOT of stairs!). Just be sure to pack light and you will be fine with a regular pack. Kathy
