Hi all...
I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for an intro art history book that will give me a clue when I travel through Europe this summer. I've been reading Steeve's Europe 101 which is fairly easy to read.... opinions on this one? Is there a superior book I should find?
Thanks!

What exactly are you looking for? A traveller's art-history type book, or an actual art-history book like you'd get in a college course? (I have several of the latter).

One book that had a lot of art information, as well as history, is Venice: the Lion City, by Garry Wills.

I would recommend you go to the library and check out different books on art. I'm sure they have a good selection in your local branch. Then if you really want one you can buy it at the store. But, if you just want a general idea or something for reference you would have saved some money.

Then if you really want one you can buy it at the store. you could prolly save some dough buying a book on line, after you choose a title.

I don't know if this helps at all but I took an Art History class in college and I used a book call Gardner's Art Through the Ages. Interestingly enough, I've seen this book at quite a few people's homes and when I asked why they had the book they said it was for an art history class. It's really comprehensive with amazing pictures but it is pretty pricey. If I were going to buy another copy, I would try to get a used one.
