Hello all,
I'm scheduled to leave for Europe this Tuesday Sept 12 (for two months) and have pretty much all my stuff ready to go...but I went to a travel store today to look around and I came across a thing called a Pacsafe-Secure Luggage Protector. Basically it's a cable net that you put your pack into and can pretty much chain it anywhere and to anything.
I will be staying in hostels for most of my trip, and I've heard that NOT all hostels have lockers.
ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? My pack doesn't zip at the top, it has a pull cord...is there a way I can make that safe without having to worry about theft?
DO YOU THINK A PACSAFE IS NECESSARY???
Thanks all for your gracious advice!

I didn't take one with me. while almost all hostels i stayed in did not have lockers, i left my big pack under my bed. nothing ever got stollen but i never left anything of value there. anything of any value was always with me in my day pack. bear in mind these pacsafes are quite heavy as well.

I wouldn't bother with them. They're not that secure and are generally a pain.
My pack is the same design as yours and I've never really worried about it. All that's in it is probably some dirty clothes, so there's not that much point in locking it up.
