When you are arriving in April/May and staying for three months like you say in your other topic, then you are on time to go to one of the big 3/4 day music festivals, that are staged in Europe. (Pinkpop in Holland, Rock am Ring in Germany, Roskilde in Denmark, Rock Werchter in Belgium). A lot of the artist are present on all of these festivals. Roskilde is the biggest of these festivals. (at least of the ones that are in May/June/July). Keep in mind that ticketprices are expensive, and staying there (eating and drinking) is expensive too.
If you like something else, and you are interested in World Music, then maybe the Womad festival is something for you. Womad travels all around the world, but the European Concert is staged in Caceres, Spain, and last for 3 or 4 days, with a couple of concerts for free. I think it is staged in May.
In the Netherlands, there will be outdoor musicfestvals from May until September almost every weekend. Just pick up a free copy of a musicmagazine in a recordstore, and you will find plenty of them. I think this is also true for most of the other countries in Europe.

Tons of festivals in the Uk over the summer months. They range from big coporate, expensive gigs to small intimate gatherings. Womad is also staged in the UK. Have a look at this site www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/
