As far as shoes go, what about Teva's, super comfortable, but what about walking around cities?

It depends on your foot type, really. I found Nike sandals (ones very similar to Tevas) to be the best bet but I have flat arches so too much arch support makes my feet ache.
Kind of judge it on whether you could go a whole day standing at work in them.
Your feet will be tired and hot regardless of what kind of shoes you wear but if you need arch support, definately get something that has that. Never get anything without a backstrap as walking around in something like flip flops will kill your feet.

I just bought a pair of Teva Circuit Leather sandals for my trip next year so I can get them broken in.
I wear them for the first time tonight. I'm planning on giving them a go at work tomorrow.
Kim, I too have fallen arches. What a pain!

try a pair of new balance all terrains. I find tevas slip a lot and give me terrible blisters, but no problem with the new balance. I walk and hike an hour or 2 every day and they're perfect.

I wore my Teva's for two days and they didn't give me too much trouble. I had to put moleskin on both my baby toes, but my feet are in bad shape to begin with. I think they will be fine for my trip. I think I'll put them away and take them out early next spring for a proper breaking in. ;D

I'm a fan of Merrel sandals. They are the most comfortable sandals ever made (in my opinion of course), but I'm not sure if they're available everywhere.

I brought my tevas and they were perfectly fine, except that they may stink if they are wet and not put out to dry.
