Hello all, I recently retuned from a 7 week trip for Europe and thought I'd add my 2 cents. What I wish I had left at home: an extra camera ( I brought a digital AND a film camera) battery recharger (didn't use it once) extra "going out" shirts What I wish I had brought: portable CD player (good to tune out loud people on trains) perfume (Can let you skip a shower ) raincoat or umbrella (hello Irish weather!!!) What was invaluable: Jeans (durable..can be worn for manyd ays in a row) Shout wipes Guide books (Loney Planet and Lets go) flip flops (good for the beach and showers) padlock (for some hostels that have lockers but no locks) camera journal Hope this helps!

What I was very grateful to have this trip: two different pairs of shoes, one being Rieker walking sandals and the others being New Balance athletic shoes (black). I can't say I regret a single thing that I packed this time, except possibly a vest which I didn't wear much. I had exactly the right amount of clothes. I did miss the nail scissors I mentioned before I left, which I didn't bring because I wanted to just do carry-on. Then since I kept taking flights, I still didn't buy any. As soon as I got home, I got the nail scissors out .

hahaha those scissors gave you a headache, didn't they!
heheh
Well, I can't say I regretted bringing things too much, but I would of left things back home if I had of known.
My adaptor/converter was useless. I did not use my travel hairdryer (next time I'll buy one overseas thanks to Dustoffmom's great advice!!).
I didn't use my umbrella because I just put my hood from my coat on.
I brought too many emergency things like a sewing kit, plasters, etc. These things can be found in Europe, you don't have to worry, they are good to have, but one needle and 2 colors of thread will do, don't need to go nuts like I did! I didn't even use them! hehe that's me alright!
I sure didn't regret bringing Ziplocs, they are a traveller's best friend.
Fresh sheets of Bounce (softener sheets) in a ziploc were great to pop in my bag of clothes to give them a good smell.
I brought too many socks and underwear, they are easy to wash and dry in the sink, no need to bring an army!
My perfume was SO IMPORTANT! hehee
xoxo Jen

I brought a plastic mug that I didn't use once...I always had a bottle of water on me.
Didn't bring enough tank tops (but it gave me an excuse to buy some along the way).
I didn't use my sewing kit either, but I'm sure if I hadn't brought it I would have needed it.
I used my portable CD/MP3 player almost every day whether it was to help me fall asleep or to pass the time on a long train.

I brought a roll of half used masking tape with me and found it to be very useful and do not weigh much and take up any space!
I used it to label my packpack, anything u need to write on actually!
and a sling bag i brought almost gave way so it came in handy as well!
Just my 2 cents worth ;D

I never go anywhere without Febreeze.
Also, having a nice smelling candle for your room is good too.
