My wife is planning to take a group of 16-18 year old students to the Netherlands, probably Amsterdam, for an educational trip. She is looking for suggestions for places to visit - they have to be health and social care/medical related.
Any suggestions?
I suggested the Cannabis museum and the red light district, but she thought not...
I posted this over on LP and Kim suggsted that Cat may be able to suggest one or two places. So if you're out there Cat, can you help? Thanks!

It's been a while, but here I am, hope I can help. I have a few questions, so I can give you better advice:
Why has your wife chosen the Netherlands, or was it just a random pick? What kind of study is it that those students do? Is your wife planning to stick to Amsterdam or would she like to visit other parts of the Netherlands?
The red light district isn't quite a bad idea, I think there is a social plan for the girls working there, so that might be an option. The salvation army also does social work in the Netherlands (helping people addicted to drugs, homless people, immigrants etc.). Or you could check out the University of Amsterdam, I believe they also educate medical and social sciences. Maybe they could organize a lecture. I'll try to find treir website for you, I'll be right back!

I did some checking and found these sites : www.uva.nl (university of amsterdam, they also have an english version) www.uba.uva.nl/hulp/formulier.cfm (with this form you can ask a question to the help desk) www.legerdesheils.nl (salvation army, they also have an english version). If you have any more questions or encounter problems with these websites, feel free to ask me, I'll try and help. Meanwhile I'll think of other options for educational trips. Good luck with the planning of this trip! Cat
