Hi There, I am on my way to Europe with two of my best friends in October, but the one issue we're having is getting from Athens to Rome? What are our options? And will out Eurail passes help? If you could help us out I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi George, Welcome to the board. I did not take the route you are asking about, but fairly sure Kim did. She will be back next week...hope that's not too late to answer your question. What I DO know is your railpass will give you a discount on the ferrys, if that is the way you are going. BUT only certain ones, so before you book be sure your pass applies to the ferry company you are looking to use.
BTW.....did you look at low cost airlines for this leg? If funds allow, I know you can make that flight pretty cheap....think maybe Ryan air does it.

Hi! I just got back from my trip to Europe. I actually bought a europebyair pass for $99 to go from Rome to Athens. This was very easy, and I highly recommend it. I would suggest going to their website asap b/c they need to mail the pass to your home address. I met people there who bought plane tickets while in Rome and they spent over $200. You could also check to see if Olympia Airways has anything cheap. Good Luck!

I'm back.. We had the same problem, it was quite a hassle. When we were there, Europebyair didn't offer that route, or we would have DEFINATELY gone with them. We did find a great travel agent in Nice that got us student tickets which were pretty cheap. If Europebyair offers the ticket, go for it. It's $99 and you will have to pay the airport taxes, but it's well worth it. (I just double checked and they do offer it-excellent info, Katie!!!) You will have to order this from home though so I hope I'm not too late. I think your only other option is a seriously long ferry ride-you will get a discount but you will have to sit on the deck. www.europebyair.comKim
