help for planning please

Hello, i've been reading suggestions on this board for a while and finally decided to ask for some help planning. A friend and I decided that we wanted to backpack through europe this summer and we dont really know where to start. I've looked at the website and it has given me good suggestions, but i would like actual answers.
We plan to go through Spain, southern France, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, and southern Germany in 6 - 8 weeks. We would love to start planning and have tried already, but we need a budget to plan around. We plan to stay in hostels for as cheap as possible and to buy a Eurail.
Whenever we start to plan we get swamped...please help!

Your budget sort of depends on you, which is why my site can only offer general suggestions.

It depends on how you want to do it-private rooms, dormitories, eating out, cooking for yourself etc.

A good guide is to plan for $50/day for expenses. This includes a dorm bed in a hostel, some food and sightseeing.

You can get an airfare quote by calling a few travel agents and seeing how much that will be.

Railpasses, check a few online places as well as ask a travel agent to see what works best for you.
