I am beginning to plan for a trip to Slovenia next summer. What is the best route for getting there? Amersterdam then train? Italy then train? Please give lots of pros and cons to different arrival points in W. Europe and transferring to E. Europe. I'll be departing from Toronto.

Also, I'd like suggestions for activities, e.g., hiking, kayaking, museums, best cities to stay in etc.
