Hi there,
I am going to be in europe from the 7th august with a friend of mine, we are both under 18 and have already paid for the rail pass.
What i need to know is how much to budget for each day, i am thinking about 80 - 90 euros a day for the both of us, is this too much or not enough.
The other thing i need to know is what travel books to take, i have:
Lonely Planet: Europe on a shoestring Lonely Planet: France Lonely Planet: Italy Thomas Cook: The INTER-RAILS guide Thomas Cook: European Time table
Any ideas on this would be helpful.
Thank You
Jimmy

I would budget more around $100 Euros per day for the two of you combined. That's $50 Euros each, which is the equiviliant of around $50 US, which is sort of a standard.
That will give you enough for a hostel bed each, food (try and cook and pack your own lunches), sightseeing and public transportation.
If you are going to be spending a lot of alcohol though, budget a bit more. Switzerland is extremely expensive. Basically, the more the better. You will never have too much money.
As far as books go, it's your personal preference. The Lonely Planet on a Shoestring will give you a lot of information about countries you won't be visiting.
The Lonely Planet: France and Lonely Planet: Italy will give you a more detailed coverage on the countries that might work better. In that case, you might want to get an Austria one. The downside is 3 books can be heavy.
I would bring a rail schedule but not any rail books.
