Hi everyone! Ok, we've been trying to rethink our trip for next year. We decided that the best way to arrange our flights is an open jaw. Fly into London, fly out of Paris, possibly. We're just going to have to cut out some countries and make more than one trip over there. ;D There is no way we can see everything without just "seeing" it out a train window! We have 3 weeks....we were planning on 6 but have decided to break it into two trips...and we definitely want to do Scotland/England/Ireland and Paris. Two weeks in UK and one week in Paris. Sound good? The second trip will be to probably start in Paris and see what we may have missed and then move down to Italy. We would spend a few days in Paris, travel down through Switzerland, etc on the way to Italy (over about 10 days) and then a spend a week there...flying home from Rome. I guess that leaves us going on a third trip sometime to see Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, etc.....oh, darn! This seems better and more relaxed (although definitely not relaxing) than our original plans (Read: Our Trip in the Making). What do you think? <br> Thanks! Michele

This sounds like a way better idea, you will enjoy yourself so much more! The first couple days you are dazed with jet lag as it is, so it's nice to have a laid back plan.
I personally really love Italy and there are so many gorgeous towns to see-if it was me, I would skip Switzerland (outrageously expensive, and see a few towns in Italy for 3 days each or something like that.

Is it 2 weeks in UK AND Ireland? Not enough time IMHO.

But is any amount of time ever enough?
Not for me, at least.
Usually everyone has some sort of time constraints, like having to be back for work or school, but you see what you can see in the amount of time you have.
I do think it's better to see a few cities longer than a lot of cities all crammed in as you will be so exhausted when you get back that you won't remember much.
You will be able to see enough, not a ton obviously esp. if you head up to Scotland as well. Pick a few places you really want to see and leave it that-don't miss Galway, Ireland and the surrounding area.

Don't know that anyone cares about this, i'd prieviously suggested to Michelle that she go to Münster instead of Osnabruck. This was in thinking Osnabruck was a place to visit due to historical interest. It wasn't. But, The Nixon Library is hosting an exhibit on "Secret Treaties." The Treaty of Westfalia is to be displayed. There is a good summary of the treaty's impact at www.nixonlibrary.org/events.shtml#TopOfPageIf 17th century European history is of interest, check it out!
