I was wondering if anyone knew about some good spots to go hiking in the UK during July and August. I've read about some pretty cool spots but would like some suggestions from people who have actually gone hiking there. I would like to try out Skye as well as some places in the Scottish highlands. Also, are there any hostels anyone could reccomend to stay at as I don't want to bother bringing a tent. Thanks! Alexis

Hiking places in Britain? Loads and loads and loads and LOADS!! Snowdonia, Lake District are brilliant. Also nice, and less crowded, are the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. Skye has loads of walking areas, and plenty of hostels. Much of Scotland is also good, but geared towards longer-distance hikes. There's hostels in all the hiking areas, but in the Lake District, at least, they are often booked up weeks in advance, so when you have chosen an area it might be worth booking a couple of nights to get started. Have a look at my site, I think you'll find quite a bit of the sort of info you are looking for. Please email me if you want more detail on any specific area, I know many of them.
