would that be big enough for all your stuff? for 30 days, you'd need more than just a light saber

I personally wouldn't want to have to carry a duffle bag for a month, your arms will be aching at the end of it.
It's just going to pull on your shoulders rather than distribute your weight all over your body, like a pack does.
If you do decide to go with the duffle, make sure you can lock the zippers. (Get the zippers that have holes you can slide a lock through).

Follow Kim's advice. If you will be traveling more than a week, get a backpack. Yep, it means you will have to shell out some money if you don't own one. But just remember you will have it for future trips.
You will have a much better time if you are comfortable and a "sports bag" will probably not be comfortable for such a long trip.

im also traveling around europe, but not as intense as a train every two days, im going from NW Germany to Austria, to Slovakia, to Frankfurt then back to UK, im staying for quiet a while in wach place too. a big back pack is only needed if ur doing intense travelling. i think looknig too much like a tourist is also a bit dangerous, try to blend in and look cool and calm

I guess it depends on what you're planning to do on your trip as well. If you plan to go to clubs etc. at night, you will have extra clothes and shoes to lug around all the time. If you plan on just sightseeing and relaxing I don't really see the need to bring a whole bunch of clothes, and you may not need a big pack.
Don't bring a sports bag or anything like that though. I get tired standing in the airport lines with those stupid things on my shoulder!
