Hi
We are in the process of planning a trip to London, Whales, France and Italy in August this year. The majority of the trip will be spent visiting and holidaying with my parents who have lived in London for the past three years, but the last little bit of the trip (most of Italy) will be spent backpacking with just me and my partner!
I have a million questions to ask, and I know I am a little eager since we have 5 months to go still, but I am excited since we just booked airfares!
One burning question I have is about day packs.....
I have a 60 litre (I think) backpack with a zip of day pack that I have travelled with before, but the day pack is tiny! With such a long plane trip ahead of us (Melbourne to London via Singapore and Dubai) I was wanting to take a larger bag on the plane. I was also thinking about being able to leave our giant packs at my parent's place in London while we go to Whales so I would need a day pack that could fit atleast a couple of days worth of stuff in.
I was thinking of getting a mid size day pack and not taking my zip-on one on the large backpack, but then I wonder how much of a hassle it will be not being able to zip on the day pack when we are travelling later??? I am not sure how comfortable I would be with the back pack on my back and the day pack on my front!
Does anyone have any ideas???
thanks in advance!

I would not do what you are thinking about. instead, drop off some of the stuff in your big backpack with your parents and take your big backpack with you to "whales" as you like to spell it. that way you have the stuff you need. the whole point of a day pack is when you are just going on a day trip or just sightseeing in one town for the day (to carry your camera, toilet paper, guidebook, and water bottle)
