I heard on the grapevine you need a minimum of $5,000 in the bank to be able to get a work visa. Can someone please shed some light on this for me???

shaninev87, sorry to see you haven't received any replies on this yet. I'm more than a bit beyond the age limit for work Visas, so haven't really had any occasion to check into those.
I'm a bit curious about what type of work Visa you're trying to obtain. Is this a WHV for Commonwealth residents? Also, what country are you hoping to work in?
With a bit more details, perhaps someone here will be able to provide some answers for you.
