Hey all, Im making first trip to Europe Feb 3-13 and need some advice... I'll be flying in and out of Munich and I know I want to get to Prague at some point also. I need a third (and possibly 4th???) city to visit that wouldn't be out of the way. The end result being a little loop back to Munich, hopefully. Any suggestions? Would 4 cities be pushing it because I don't want to spend all my time traveling? And LASTLY, if you have a good suggustion I could use some advice on the best way to travel between these destinations also because right now I am totally open on that end. My budget should allow plane, train, or automobile!! Thanks for whatever help you can provide!

Check out how Vienna would fit into your plans. I think Vienna fits in reasonably well on that train route. If you choose a Vienna hostel, like Wombats, that is right by the train station, this will facilitate your travel.
I think three cities would be enough, but you could do a daytrip from Vienna to Bratislava.

Vienna would be a good alternative, and you could visit Salzburg on the way back from Vienna to Munich. (If you have enough time left), I think that 3 days in Munich, 3 in Prague and 4 in Vienna, and 1 day to get back in Munich, would be a pretty good option.
The other option would be to go North, to Dresden, and then come back to Munich on the German side of the border, visiting Rotherburg ob der Tauber. You could also go from Prague to Berlin, and see if you can still get a cheap ticket from Berlin to Munich, but at this short notice, that might be difficult, but you could check the inland flights by Lufthansa, they should go for 50,60 euros.

jparrock, Welcome! I have a few comments to add to the others. Given the short time frame of ten days for your trip, I believe that three cities is about all you're going to be able to manage. Munich, Vienna and Prague are all good choices. You might be able to add a one-night visit to a fourth city on your return trip from Prague to Munich (Salzburg?). I'm assuming that you're travelling from North America, so you'll lose the first day in flight times (you'll arrive in Europe the day after you depart your home airport). The "best way to travel between these destinations" is undoubtedly rail. If you choose direct (fast) trains, the travel times should be reasonable. Use the www.bahn.de website to determine travel times. Not long to go until Feb. 3rd!!! Happy travels!

Another vote for Vienna and salzburg. When you're in Munich check out the free city tour by bike or walking. Its www.newmunich.com i think. And A daytrip to Fussen to visit the castle in Munich. And train travel is definitely the easiest but maybe between vienna and prague the bus is cheaper, a bit longer but cheaper. lol.
