Hi
The plan is to pick up a campervan (6.4mt 5 berth) in Lille (France) and travel to Benidorm (Spain) . I have given myself 3.5 days each way (1 week travel and 1 week there) and google says 1,078 miles.
This seems doable to me .. However I have never attempted such a journey before so wondered if the more experienced travellers could tell me if they think it's possible and point me in the direction of any resources.
Many thanks .. All help appreciated :)

Yes, it is possible.
There are also some nice places you can visit along the way if you want. If you want to travel slow, then stay away from the motorways. First of all they cost money to use them, and secondly you will not see that much. If you can get hold of some maps, you can plan two pretty good routes.
One think to remember is that petrol is very expensive in Europe.
I am only curious why you would go and travel with a campervan from the North of France to Spain, and back again?
Benidorm is a heaven for teenagers looking for a lot fun (parties, drinks, girls/boys, and beach). If you are not looking for this, there are also other places along the costa's.

Hi.. Thanks for the response Afraid I am the non flyer.. But I love driving.. Only chance of getting to spain really. Traveling from UK (Up north, Lancashire) . Decided to hire camper in france for 2 weeks. Traval to calais on friday,. stay overnight and collect camper saturday for two weeks. Didn't want to waste a day of the camper hire on the M6/M1 ect Me, Wife and 2 kids. I drive to London regular.. 460 mile round trips but in a car and a bit fast... so started to panick about the speed and miles per day in a camper. I thought fuel was cheaper in europe? It's a 2.3 diesel.. whats the easiest way or attempting to work out a rough cost of fuel for the trip? Ta:)

I have a link with all the fuel prices in Europe: www.vab.be/nl/viavab/verkeersinfo/europa/brandstofprijzen/default.aspx It a website in Dutch, but if I tell you that Frankrijk means France, and Spanje = Spain, you can work out the rest. At the moment the Diesel in France is 1.17 a liter !!!, and 1.03 in Spain. If you can drive 10 miles to the liter. You have to calculate that you need approx. 250 euros, for the diesel. A lot depends on the route (more miles = more fuel = higher costs) and the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. But with four persons, it's not such a bad deal. If you rent a van in France, make sure that you can take it across the border. Some companies won't let you do that, other will. Also check insurance. My routeplanner, gives me a drive of almost 18 hours by car. You will be driving a bit slower, so let say you need 22 hours. devided over 3 or 4 days, make it doable.
