I was hoping to see many of the tiny countries such as Andorra and Monaco. Are there any opinions of these or other tiny countries either way? I just want to go there for the novelty of being able to say "Yes, I have been to Liechtenstein!" Is it really worth it though? I am on a budget, so I guess what I am really asking is 'do any of these city-size coutries actually stand out in anybodys' memory?'

Monaco is really nice. But I don't know if I'd see any of the small countries if they were out of the way. If it's on your way and you want to check out the small countries go for it.

Your best bet is to stay somewhere and day trip to a few as places like Monaco are pricey to stay in.
You'd be better off staying in Nice and daytripping to Monaco/Monte Carlo, Cannes, Antibes - all around 15-20 minutes away from Nice by train.

maybe what you meant by tiny countries are independent principalities. monaco is pretty although quite expensive. I like Andorra cos of its snow filled caps just like the alps in switzerland. San Marino in Italy is quite picturesque as it is an Old Fortress. Lichtenstein specifically Vaduz the capital is just famous for its castle. Vatican City of course is historical.
