Hi! I was wondering if someone could recommend which town to stay at in Cinque Terre... I will be there for 4 days 3 nights in January. Are all the hostels open then? Which hostels/accom are recommended for the area? Would it be better to stay one night in 3 of the towns or travel around the area and always head back to one town at night for the duration of the stay? THANKS!! ;D K.

Hi there, The only official hostel is located in Manarola-a very nice hostel, reservations must be made a week in advance. There is actually 5 towns in the Cinque Terre and they are very close together. We found it best to stay in one and just go and spend the day in the others. We stayed in Manarola and loved it, I'd definately recommend it. The hostel is closed Nov. 4 - Dec. 6 and Jan. 6 - Feb. 15, so this may not help you. Take a look on my Cinque Terre page for more places to stay if it's closed when you are going to be thereL members.shaw.ca/guideforeurope/5terre.htmlKim

hi! i was in cinqueterre a few months ago...stayed at the manrola hostel...it was super nice...quiet a climb to the hostel tho!!! once you're up there, ya don't wanna leave so ya don't have to climb the hill again..... but, in the last town (the name escapes me right now...)(the one with the beach) there is a man who rents rooms, if you get there in the morning, he waits at the train station and advertises....im not sure how he rents them in the winter time, or if he even does, but if you find him, he where's a shirt and hat that says rooms for rent..haha...my friend stayed with him last time, and we ran into him again this past time, so he's not a hard guy to find.......anyways, my point is that, i don't think you will have much trouble finding a place to stay.....
