My husband and I are travelling to Europe (first time for both) in October. We will be going to England (mainly London), Scotland, Ireland, and France (mainly Paris). If we have time at the end of our trip, we may go to Prague OR Venice.
Looking for advice on which city you prefered--we have heard rave reviews about both from friends (i.e. you can't miss this city), but would only have time for one. Thanks!

I would shorten time spent in England, Scotland, & Ireland, and attempt to see both. But I prefer Prague.

Prague is probably better on the budget, but personally I'd rather see Venice. I'm not really sure what the status is on everything in the Czech Rep right now, as some things are just re-opening after the flooding...

That's a tough one, as I loved both.
Venice is more unique (the canals etc) but very pricey and touristy.
Prague is simply beautiful and great on the budget but like Patrick said, after the flooding, it's probably not the time to go.

I wouldn't take a chance with Prague and go to Venice. Things are still really bad in Prague, The water is gone, but there's still a lot of dirt on the streets and they are afraid of diseases, because of the heat and the debris.
Even if you can visit the entire city, I'm quite sure a lot of buildings will be closed for cleaning of for safety reasons. The stones seem to be soaked and there is danger for collaps.
This may sound negative and in october, a lot could be cleared up, but still, I wouldn't take the chance and go some other time.
Enjoy your stay in Europe!
