I'm going on a trip to Italy, but the way that I've planned it, I will be visiting Florence and Pisa on the weekend. Is there any reason why I should give either city an extra day, such as a specific museum or attraction not being open on Sundays? I'm pretty flexible, so any suggestions would be great!
P.S. What were some of your favorite things to do in Florence??

There isn't much in Pisa, just the Leaning Tower. If you left early in the morning, you could take the train there, see it and be back in a few hours.
If you are planning on visiting the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, definately, definately call and make reservations for tickets. Otherwise, you will be waiting outside for hours like we were.
It's open Tuesday-Sunday 8:15am-7:00pm and the number you call for tickets is: +39.(0)55.294883
The ticket reservation place is open Monday through Friday 8:30am-6:30pm; Saturday 8:30am-12:30 am. (Take into account the time difference, obviously)
We had dinner at a great little trattoria in Florence. I just pulled out my journal as I pasted the business card inside. Here is the info:
La Baruciola Via Maggi0, 61r Florence
Tel: (055) 21 89 06
It wasn't right in the heart of all the touristy restaurants but sort of off to the side of things. You can walk to it easily though, from the main places.

I agree with Kim, It is around 3 hours on the train, I think to Pisa from Florence. Florence has a lot of neat stuff, spend most of your time there. Hop on an early train to Pisa take a bunch of pics and head back to Florence before you get bored.

I went on a tour to Pisa, and found myself bored after a couple hours as you have to wait for your group to leave at the specified time. A couple hours and then maybe lunch at a small cafe should be good. Haven't been to Florence, but you should probably spend about 3 hours or so in Pisa.

Pisa is not worth the time. Stay in Tuscany, go to Siena & Florence.

Ah Florence! My favorite stop on my trip. Yes, got to the Uffizi, but don't miss the Galerie de Acadamea (sp) to see the David. The Medici Chapel is spectacular! Stunning! Spend a bit of time around the Duomo....it's where most folks hang out, and always something going on. Go out to the Palazio Piti to see the Boboli Gardens. Just south of train station is a great trattoria....Grotto de Leo....terrific food and you can eat like a king for about $6, including wine.
Agree with other posters about Pisa.....I almost didn't go, but did at the last minute. And, I'm glad I saw it, but as mentioned above, see the tower and then leave.
Sienna.....another great stop. As was Assisi. Both really beautiful towns and worth stopping to visit indeed.
Have fun.....I am so envious! I adored Italy, especially this region.
