My husband and I are traveling through Europe again in May and want to know if anyone would have any advice on Jazz clubs. He plays Jazz and would really love to find a bar that welcomes sit ins, he will have his own trumpet.. Has anyone gone to any bars where they let people sit in

Well I guess no one listens to music here. Too bad, it's much more interesting than dj music and clubs.

HEY! i listen to music a lot! i just don't play - so, can't comment on places with "sessions."
the Mariandel (sp?) in Munich has a piano. but it has a note saying "we don't play jazz here," or something like that. i understand Paris & Amsterdam have such bars, too. But, i've never been to one. And don't play, so i "really" wouldn't know.
In North Texas, i would suggest that you go to Denton (a city NNW of Dallas) for such bars. UNT, the biggesst school in Denton, has a well known Jazz program. Including the award winning One O'Clock Lab Band.
Players, er, uh, musicians, might know this stuff - but listeners, whom you suggest we are not, might not be aware.

Sorry if it sounded rude, didn't mean to, just frustrated. I really want to have a fun trip and would love to be able to find some good jazz bars even just for listening. To be honest, I don't know much about music either. So I'm sorry if I sounded mean, just trying to get as much info as I can. Thanks for replying anyway.

Jazz is very popular in Prague. There are several clubs where profesional musicians play, but I don't know where people can come up and play... in every big city you'll find some jazz clubs... check the "time out" or "what's on?" listings, or ask tourist info.
