hey yall -
i'm planning an impromptu trip to london and the uk leaving out march 31st.... i'm a singer/songwriter and i wanted to play some gigs while im traveling around england.... but some days i don't want to carry my guitar with me to see sights....
any recommends on where would be the best place to store it during the day? i'm taking my cheap guitar with me.... wouldnt dare take my best (just paid it off!!) so it wont be a complete loss if something happens to it but still...
also, any one know anythign about the music scene in london as far as singer/songwriter venues or open mic nights....??

a singer/songwriter - rocker i know [www.colinboyd.net czech out the mp3's! he's not bad.] did that a few years ago. but, i don't think London was on his itinerary. as i recall, he did Paris, Eastern Europe, etc. you could ask him about it, his e-mail is at the site.

I would expect many places would let you keep something like that in pack storage. Are you taking a hardshell case?

I'm planning on bringing a guitar just for songwriting and fun purposes, so I'm going to buy a $70 Montana MTG1 (it got nice reviews on Harmony Central) or a similar guitar. I can't imagine carrying around a full-size guitar.

I can't imagine carrying around a full-size guitar. I crossed paths last year with someone that had one like that... we all thought it was a great idea and she was very happy with it. Great sound, and sooooo packable.

You will find out what to do when you get there. Most hostels will hold it for you during the day.
Please take it as you will be inspired on the road and you will regret not having it when you want it.
