I am looking for a decent hostel that someone can reccomend in London. It is my last stop in Europe and I will be staying for 4 days. I have looked at a few website and have found that there are just too many!
Any good ones out there?

London can be a blow to your budget. It was hard to find a cheap hostel fairly central to the city. I booked 3 nights at the Astor Hyde Park hostel. It's supposed to be a lively place to meet other backpackers. Any of the 5 Astor hostels should give you a good value. Of course, I haven't stayed there yet.

I've never used this service, but I've heard it is very helpful for finding good accommodation in London: www.studios92.com/Have a good time! Ray

i've heard that the ashlee house is nice....and there's also one my friend stayed at...i want to say it was astor hyde park.....or it was one in the middle of a park that you had to walk to...but she said it was really nice....well, nice minus the walk to the hostel......i wish i had more info.....im going back to london in 2 months, but im staying in a hotel this time.....

Wow. thanks for all of the tips. I haven't had a chance to check all of the links yet but I will. How many days do you guys think is a good amount of time to see a lot of the neat things to see? How much should I budget for per day?

ryan....
i budgeted about 30 pounds per day when i was there last year....this included my hostel which was only 12 pounds (i got a real cheap weekly rate) but eating cheap at every meal and taking advantange of the free breakfast....going to free sites etc....i averaged around 30 pounds per day....but some days we did day trips and had to pay for tickets....also take into consideration your tube pass....i'm thinking about buying a week pass in advance this time......i tried to do everything as cheap as possible....london is expensive...but it's possible to find cheap but good places to eat.....if you are ever in the kensington area there is a great little sandwich/coffee shop...i don't have the location details on me, but email me if you want to, and i'll let you know where it is..... essheprd@memphis.edu

I ended up spending an amount similar to Emily while I was in London, so I agree it's quite doable.
