I've been to London before, but I had 10 days. Now I'm going with my 16-year-old son.
We have the following time periods to see as much as possible:
From about 4:30 PM June 28 (our flight arrives about 2, but I doubt we will get to our hotel and get ready to go out before 4:30) to about 2:30 PM on June 29 (when we have to start preparing for our trip to Stansted).
From about 9 PM on July 12 to about 3:30 PM on July 14.
And to further complicate things, a lot of places will be closed, since 2 of those days are Sundays.
So what should we do?

I can not suggest enough utilizing London Walks.... london.walks.com/Inexpensive, have walks at all times of the day and evening, will get you into all the 'tourist' spots and neighborhoods besides....take one, two, or more of these to get a terrific overview or specific view of things that interest you. If your time is limited, this is a great way to get a real feel for the town, and have loads of fun besides.
