I have about 7 days to travel in Germany and will be getting a German rail pass (most likely). I need to end up in Berlin (and will then be spending about 3 days there). I'm coming up through Switzerland. Any suggestions for an itinerary or must see places? Thanks!

Not certain on your dates, do you have 7 days total, including 3 in Berlin or 7 days followed by 3 in Berlin? What type of thing/place are you interested in? If you give a bit more information I can offer some suggestions.

I just checked my calendar. I have 6 days and then 3 days in Berlin. I'm interested in museums, music and nice places to walk around. I'll be traveling alone and don't plan on doing a lot of regular "night life" stuff.

Okay, one last question...walking around as in hiking about in the countryside or walking about as in sightseeing in cities and old towns? And do the famous castles hold any interest for you? Finally.....car or train?

walking around in cities and old towns/sightseeing. i'll be taking the train. i'm looking into the flexi eurorail passes and the specific ones for Germany- not sure which is a better deal yet. And yes, castles definitely interest me. Thanks!

I would definitely stop in Fussen (sp) enroute to Munich possibly for a few days. I only spent about 5 or 6 hours there but seriously enjoyed the castles - I hiked a bit through the trails and up to the suspended bridged overlooking the valley. Took some great pics!
I wish I had more time but was only in Muich for about 2 days - went out to the concentration camp and there are several pretty good walking tours etc. that you can do ......... good shopping as well. Other than that Berlin was great - very interesting city.
