Hi-- My name is Kim, but not the Kim that you know ;D so I'll be The Other Kim. Here's my story... I am a nursing student from Lafayette, Louisiana and I'm going with UL France to live in Paris for 2 months. We can take a couple of weekend trips (Thursday-Sunday) throughout our stay as well as independent travel time from July 3- 18. I have been fervently planning my trip trying to pick the best places to go for these weekends that somewhat fit the budget of a college student thriving on student loans. I also have to pick out of these places where to spend the 2 weeks of independent travel. So far have picked these towns to spend weekends in and the hostels I may stay at... Amsterdam, The Netherlands @ The Flying Pig Dowtown Figueres, Spain @ Trave Hotel **These places listed below I need help deciding where to go and how much I can do in a weekend! Switzerland-- (maybe Lucerne? Is Interlaken too touristy? suggestions? ) Germany/Austria--(maybe Heidelberg? but I'm not sure--any suggestions?) Italy (I can't decide whether I should stay in Florence or a smaller surrounding town like Volterra, which seems cool...advice?) Kim suggested that I go to Brugges, Belgium-- any suggestions for hostels there? Also, I would like if at all possible to avoid renting cars. Walkable towns are what I'm aiming for so if you could please take that into consideration with your suggetsions- many thanks. I can't wait to read your advice!
