I was looking at buying Eagle Creek's Voyage 65L and was wondering if anyone knows what the "Safeguard Panel" is. I found the pack online for about $150 with free shipping so I'm probably going to go with it regardless, but I was wondering if anyone knew what it was.

buddha, I believe the "Safeguard Panel" is a zippered panel on the back surface of the Daypack (perhaps where the harness is located), which is designed to store important documents (Cash, Credit Cards, Tickets, Railpass, etc.). This provides a higher level of security for these documents, as the user has to remove the Pack in order to access the panel. Therefore, one is less likely to be victimized by "slashing" attacks that open the pack up as the documents inside the panel likely still wouldn't be accessible.
However, if the straps were cut and the entire Pack stolen (or the Pack is stolen while the user isn't wearing it), then the traveller has lost ALL documents! That's why it's a good idea to keep the most important documents in a Money Belt or whatever. I would probably tend to use the Safeguard Panel in a very limited way, but it's still a nice feature to have.
Hope this helps. Happy travels!!!
