Whilst bored at work I'm fantasizing about the next city I shall live in while here on my working VISA.
I'd like to live in England and was wondering for any thoughts on the best city to live in for July and part of August. So far Bristol, Cornwall, and York have been suggested. Any thoughts??

Cornwall isn't a city, so I'd scrap that. Jobs would be hard to come by etc.
Bristol's ok, others worth considering would be Southampton, Exeter, Plymouth etc if you want that region. The weather is likely to be semi-decent in these cities and they're all by the coast which is an added bonus.

i would suggest leeds. or maybe windsor (its small tho). i don't know what kind of work you want, tho. i met a guy in small small town (like 200 ppl) in the yorkshire dales from quebec city who was there on a work visa and working in a pub. must be a wonderful job in the summer... i was hiking in march and it was still very cool!

I'm not so sure about Leeds, it's not a great place, certainly not compared to the South Coast. Windsor is pretty small and too close to London in my opinion (most people in the UK view it as part of London rather than as a separate entity).
Depending on what type of work you're after you may find yourself limited to bigger cities, so I'd keep that in mind.

York, where I come from, is a great historic city though it is rather small.
Work-wise, I'm sure that you would be able to find some form of job in one of the many pubs or bars that are open (we're supposed to have a pub for each day of the year). However keep in mind that during July and August most of the York residents returning from University and the like will also be looking for jobs.

Thanks guys... as the time comes closer I'm going to do some more job related research. I'm looking for any type of job at all. I will be broke and not-picky when it comes to that time! I was looking for somewhere along the coast though - just for the location.
