Could you advise on planning an Europe visit during summer from India. I have learnt from the Forum that London is the place to start any Europe trip.
I am thinking of the following itinerary for a month trip with my family.
London-Paris-Lyon-Barcelona-Nice-Florence-Rome-Venice-Milan-Geneva-Munich-Vienna-Prague-Krakow-Berlin-Amsterdem-Brussels-London
1. Any suggestions on itinerary. Any place I should add or delete 2. Please suggest budget travel to & between these cities, would it be train, road or air travel. where to get it? 3. Suggestions for budget accomodations.
Thanking you in advance.

17 cites in a month is way too much. I'd drop 10 of them at least. you're not going to see or experience much with that kind of itinerary....then you have to take into account travel time which will reduce your experience even further.
if I were going on my first trip I'd go london (just start straight to paris), paris (4 days + night train), rome (4 days), venice (1 day, possible night train to prague), prague (never been there so say 3 days), krakow (3 days), berlin (3 days), amsterdam (3 days) and back to london (4 days). so that's 26 days with a little flexibility in case you want to go somewhere else or stay a little longer. should be enough for travel time as well.
the idea is to pick the cities you have to see and maximize your time there to experience all you can.

as far as travel between cities go, it depends how many you are. if you are 4 or 5, renting a car would probably be the cheapest option. i know i calculated car vs. train for 2 people and train worked out ever so slightly cheaper. so it depends how many you are. however you need to be comfortable driving in insane cities! you couldn't pay me enough to drive in rome, paris or london! but for exploring smaller towns a car is ideal.
