I'm having someone purchase a backpack for me but I wanted to get some insight on what kind of backpack would be ideal for: - A 5'4, 125 pound fit woman.
- ....who has a back problem (I actually have mild sciolosis but it doesn't really flare up but I do have back aches more often than normal.
- Can fit in 1 month's worth of stuff including a Kodak Z650 camera kit which you can see here. Compared to other cameras, it's slightly more bulky due to the frame of the camera.
- That might be able to be used as a carry-on on planes (if possible) or fit into lockers at hostels.
- That also has a good daypack on it that will fit my camera and other stuff and won't be easy for pickpockets to get into!
I honestly have no clue when it comes to backpacks. I'm a rolling-suitcase nut but I think for this trip, it'd be better for me to have a backpack rather than dragging a suitcase all over Europe. Much thanks!

Eagle Creek bags seem t obe the preferred bag around here. I have a Continental Journey myself, though that model has been discontinued. Whichever kind of backpack you get, make sure you try it on in the store and make sure it's properly fitted to your torso length! If you search around the 'Packing' forum you'll find plenty on this subject, I'm just to lazy to do it right now. ;D

given current luggage restrictions you won't be able to check a backpack since you need to bring liquids with you (shampoo, moisturizer, etc). also anything you need for a month will likely be 50-60 litres which is too big for carry-on.
you live in ottawa, go to MEC and try on a few. then go to other luggage stores and try some on as well. its the only way you'll knowas doug said.

Ooh yes. I forgot about the restrictions. I'm a bit slow this weekend cause of a huge amount of university work piling up (drat). Thanks for recommending the store. I tihnk there's a travel/outdoor store in the Byward Market but I'll look in the Yellow Pages for the one you suggested!
