Hi, me and 2 friends are going to England in May my friend wants to go visit her relatives in Sheffield for a few day, any advice on a cheap way to get there from London, also is there much to do there, or around there?
Thanks

adamwc, another method of travel from London to Sheffield would be via National Express Coach. They're not as fast as the train, but you indicated that you wanted a "cheap way" to get there. I did a quick search of their web site ( www.nationalexpress.co.uk ) and the trip is about four hours. The fares seem to vary a bit, but I found one trip priced at £34.40. You might be able to get much cheaper fares by purchasing some kind of "saver" card. They used to have one called the "Tourist Trail" card, but I think they have a new version now (not sure what it's called?). I'm not too familiar with Sheffield and "things to do". Check their city or tourism web site, as I'm sure there will be lots of info there. Also, if your friends have relatives there, I'm sure they'll be familiar with all the local sites, so you likely won't have any trouble finding things to do. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy travels!!!

You can go even cheaper with Megabus. Fares range from about 1 to 5 pounds (seriously). See: www.megabus.com
