Has anyone ever taken a wine-tasting tour through Tuscany?
I am debating going for either :
-a group tour with Tuscan Trails (www.tuscantrails.com) for 60 Euro per person (student rate)
-a private tour with Dolce Chianti (http://www.dolcechianti.com/winetasting.html) for 90 Euro per person
I was wondering if people had taken either of these tours, or something similar, and if they thought that the private tour would be worth the extra 30 Euro per person.
Thanks! Jeff

i've done one in bordeaux to st-emilion and it was 24 euros. so 60 ruros seems quite expensive! while the tour was cool i definately wouldn't pay 60 euros for it!!

Jules,
Was that a one vineyard tour, or a full-day tour? The ones I am looking at are full day things where they pick you up in Florence, drive you out to 2-3 different vineyards to explore and taste, and visit a small local restaurant for lunch. Was this a similar deal? If so, should I hold out until the portion of my trip in France to do the tour?

jeff, I've never taken any Tuscan wine tours, but €60.00 doesn't seem unreasonable for a full day tour. You indicated that the €90.00 tour was a "private tour" and again that's probably a reasonable cost. You're likely to get much more personal attention on the private tour, so of course that comes with a cost.
Good luck and let us know how these work out, as I'm sure it would be good information for all of us here.
Cheers!!!

i believe it was a half day tour. we left from bordeaux and went to a vineyard in st-emilion. we then went to the village of st-emilion itself (which is about 1000 years old). where you could eithre wander around and visit the caves a vin (wine tasting) or participate in a tour.
it was great and the perfect amount of time. i honestly don't know if i'd want to be tasting wine at 10 am. but that's just me.
