scubespy, although your questions were directed to Kim, hopefully you won't mind if someone else offers a few comments. For a trip of 2-3 weeks, IMHO you've got enough cities to visit without adding Prague. The order you've shown is not the most efficient, Something like Amsterdam-Brussels (although many here prefer Brugges)-Paris-Venice-Rome-Barcelona would probably work better. You'll have to check www.whichbudget.com to find out what flight options there are from Rome to Barcelona. You can decide on the appropriate rail pass once you've firmed up your Itinerary. As far as the time in each city, this will depend to some extent on what you're interested in seeing? The larger cities (Paris & Rome) usually require at least 4-5 days each for proper touring. The others you've listed, perhaps 2-3 days each. You also have to factor in some time for travel between cities. It would help to know where you're flying from? Hopefully you'll have no trouble finding "open jaw" flights from your location to the places you've chosen? Good luck with your planning!!!

paris: i say spend about 4 days here. you can see most of the good sites in the city in 2 days. make sure to get a museum pass coz it will save you money and time because you'll have to wait in line for tickets. then 1 day you can go to versaille and see the palace.
rome: i say stay about 3-4 days there. again, you can see most of the sites in 2-3 days. everything is within walking distance from each other so it won't take you long to see them. if you have time try to visit venice. maybe a day tour from rome since it is only 4 hrs away by train.

Hey I don't think you need to spend more then 3 days in most cities (2 in the smaller places) especially if you only have 2-3 weeks. You can see most of the major attractions in that time and you have to take into account travel time as well. Also Florence is defiantely worth a visit, it was one of my favourite cities in Italy plus Michelangelo's David is there!

really thanks for all ur advices..welli didnt really mean just to refer to kim,but also all of u awho r so kind n helpful.. well i guess that'll be a good idea to stop at least 4 days at big city like paris n rome, but dun u think barcelona is a great place to stay longer too?? well im flying from london n will come back at the london at the end of the trip..so do u think i need to get a open jaw ticket??or instead, the normal ticket will do? and also,am i advised to use flight from each sity to another city, and use trains within the same country,e.g:take train from rome to venice etc.. and to eagle..also i am quite confused on the ruote i shall take here.is it really advisable if i fly visit italy first than barcelona?cos i thought im heading towards south from paris.well ur rpely is miuch appreaciated. .thx!!

i really enjoyed Barcelona, would like to go back. as i was sick, i didn't see as much as i would've liked.
to me, Rome is huge! not just big, Rome is also unequaled in importance to the Western world. i spent 5 nights there on my last trip, yet left feeling i could've spent another 5 there.
regarding Florence: i enjoyed Florence much more than Venice. it also has Pisa (with the "leanin' tower" and an airport with cheap air connections to Barcelona. but, Venice has them, too)
*if* you go to Venice, and also decide to go to Prague, you could fly there, but if by train, Innsbruck might be a good stop on the way. (beautiful mountain town)
