I'm planning on getting into Budapest around 6pm on Jan 14th, and then flying out early am on Jan 17th. I'll pretty much have two full days in the city. Will that be a sufficuent amount of time for it? Before that I'm in Krakow for 4 nights. Thanks!

I did the reverse this summer spending 4 days in budapest then going on to krakow, 4 days was plenty although I could go back and spend longer there as budapest was amazing. There is lots to do but with 4 full days you should be able to cover the best of things. If your getting the night train (cracovia) between the 2 cities I would recommend u pay for a sleeping berth, we did and after seeing the rest of the train were really glad we did! enjoy ur trip!

I did 2 days in Budapest a couple of years back and managed to fit in a fair bit by using the time effectively. Basically I did a bike tour as soon as I arrived there, which was great as I really managed to see a fair bit. Then I did another tour the next day, this one focusing upon the Communist era in Budapest (including entry to the Statue park - well worth seeing).
Basically, Budapest is doable in 2 days, as long as you're prepared to hit the ground running. That said, if you could do 4 days or so there then it would be worth it.

Yeah, that's a good plan. I was there 3 weeks ago. It is amazing. We were there 2 and a half days and saw everything we really wanted to see, but of course I could have stayed longer!
Have fun!

I spent 5 days in Budapest this August, and would recommend at least 4 days stay, as Budapest is definitely an experience to be savoured. Take your time and spend a day at the castle, one day at the baths... There are also a number of daytrips to take to nearby villages.

Just a point of attention for everyone traveling to Budapest on the next few days or weeks.
There are demonstration against the president. (He admitted that he lied in the election-campaign, to become president) Following these peaceful demonstrations, there have been riots that caused the police to use force to end these riots. So if you are going, keep an eye to the developments in Hungary.
