Im leaving in 6 days, thanks to everyone who has helped me plan my trip so far I would probably be lost and dis-couraged to go if it wasnt for this site.
Anyway, Im packing my pack to see how its going to feel, my main question is how many pairs of underwear? im going for 3.5 weeks, i dont know what facilities i will have to wash clothes. What does everyone suggest? thank you.

Maybe 1 week's worth of underwear? I don't know... You could bring 7-8 and bunch them up or something and wash them at the end of every week?
If that doesn't work for you, you could always head to a cheap clothing store (i.e. H&M) and just buy new underwear and toss the old ones out?

Considering your route is focused on cities, there should be no problem to find a laundrette, you can ask the staff at the hostel to show you the way to the nearest one. And depending on the hostel, some have facilities to do the laundry.
I guess it depends on how many other clothes you are taking, this will tell you have many times you have to wash you clothes. I would try to bring clothes for some 10-11 days, this would mean you have to do the laundry 2 times during your travel. If you want to do the laundry 3 times, then calculate for 8-9 days of clothing (+ 1 pair extra for 'emergencies')
P.S. Have a good a save travel.

I'd take a lot of underwear and socks - like about 10 days worth. You can lower your standards a bit when it comes to rewearing outer clothes, but having clean underwear and socks every day will help your morale a lot, if you are a bit slow in getting to the laundromat. I would plan on a weekly laundromat visit.

I'm with Will on that. I went with 8 or 9 pairs of undies and as many pairs of socks and I was gone a month.
This is going ot sound strange, but try to take pairs that are close in colour to the clothes you are taking. That way you can do one big load of laundry and be done with it.

You could take a 5-7 days worth of underwear, and every day or two wash them in the shower with you (and your socks for that matter) and dry them out that night while you sleep. That way, if they aren't dry, you still have enough to get you through the next few days until they do dry, or to get to a laundromat for a dryer with the rest of your washing. And you don't have to leave them hanging in the hostel during the day - something that many hostels don't allow anyway. Up to you, but I found this quite effective on some trips.

met a Canadian woman on a Swedish train who had all black clothes, even socks. she volunteered that this was so they could all be washed together without worry of color bleed. [she didn't trust Laundromats temperature settings to be really *cold,* i guess.] i certainly didn't ask about her bras & panties, but assume they were black, or that she didn't care about color bleed with underclothes. - d This is going ot sound strange, but try to take pairs that are close in colour to the clothes you are taking. That way you can do one big load of laundry and be done with it.

I use travel-friendly Tilley clothing when travelling, so 2-4 pairs of underwear, 2 T-Shirts and 2-4 pairs of socks are usually enough. These are designed to be washed in a sink and be dry the next morning. The Shirts and Trousers are the same.
However, I've found that it's nice to visit a Laundromat every week or ten days just to give everything a thorough washing and proper drying.
