Wow that’s a cool tool, thanks. Update: ATTENTION, I have made a pretty big change in our route. It has come to my attention that Interlaken was just not cost effective on this trip this summer. It was costing me a lot to go by train and it was only one city on the way to Brugge. To save about 5 days we have decided to skip Interlaken completely. Instead I have found a flight from Venice to Brussels for about $63. This will allow us that extra day in Venice, able to see both Brussels and Brugge and possibly somewhere else between Brugge and Amsterdam. If for what ever reason this does not sound like a smart idea to someone please let me know. Thanks. - Brett

Sounds like a plan Brett, especially for a flight at that price. It's a shame that you couldn't fit Switzerland in, and the scenery on that train ride (Venice to Interlaken) is gorgeous, but fair point about cost, time, etc. And it's a great excuse to plan to go back in future!
I'm a big fan of Brussels, and Brugge, so I think it's great that you will get to see both. Let me know if you want info on Brussels and I'll PM you.
Between Brugge and Amsteram, you could stop off at Ghent for a wander around. I know it's between Brugge and Brussels, but it depends on which train route you take. You could also stop in Den Haag (The Hague) as it too is quite pretty. I'd probably be more inclined to use the time to explore Brugge or Amsterdam a little more as it's only a short journey between the two, allowing for flexible departure/arrival times.

yeah, that sounds like a good idea to me. I think it would be refreshing to not be so rushed towards the end of our journey, we will be able to relax and take our time. If you could PM me that info that would be great.

Seems like a smart move to leave out Interlaken.
Just as an idea: Brussels - Paris is only one and a half hour by train.
