Any place you would recommend to visit? avoid?
Suggestions or advice on how to get around?

Have only been to a few of the places listed below (same list I just posted in another question): Cardiff, Llandudno & Caernarfon (beaches & castles), Swansea (university town), any where in Snowdonia, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch(Llanfairp-g for short! City with longest name in Britain). Or you could pick from the "Seven Wonders of Wales" (a list from a Welsh rhyme): Gresford (for the bell), St Giles Church tower in Wrexham, Llangollen bridge (over the River Dee), Mt Snowdon (the highest mountain in Wales), St Winefride's Well in Holywell, the tallest waterfall at Pistyll Rhaedr or the Overton yew trees in the churchyard of St Mary's at Overton-on-Dee. Can recommend Llandudno, Caernarfon, Snowdonia scenery/valleys and Llanfairp-g train station to take a photo of the name! Still want to make it to Cardiff and complete the list of the rhyme. Depending on how much you want to see, and how confident you are, driving is easy enough and will allow you more scope to explore the smaller villages and coastline. There used to be a dual Wales Rail and Bus pass that might (should) still be available. Have a look at www.visitwales.com as there should be info on their site. Train travel isn't as extensive as in England, but is still viable depending on where you're planning to visit.

I went to Wales last summer and we visited Cardiff, Caernarfon, and Swansea among other cities. I really loved Cardiff, there was so much to do. We also stayed at a place in Monmouth called Caer Llan, it was beautiful, I reccommnd it.
Wales is such a beautiful place, I don't think many people recognize that. It's definitely worth it to go.

Thanks for all the information. I do, sooooo badly, want to get to Wales. Looks like it will have to be (yet another) trip.
The one I was hoping to do in 2008 now looks like it will be All Scotland. But that's ok. I think I'd rather do Wales on my own than in a group.

I've been a month in Cardiff; the Cardiff bay is very nice, and the city too; nearby, I went to Newport, Swansea and a little seaside town near Swansea, Mumbles. But, apart from the cities, the countryside is very relaxing..
